　　美丽的女记者凯西因为一场采访和国际知名的象棋选手皮特（克里斯多弗·兰伯特 Christopher Lambert 饰）坠入了情网之中，哪知道一夜销魂之后，竟然香消玉损。警方找来了心理学家嘉福（黛安·莲恩 Diane Lane 饰）参与调查此案，希望她的专业知识能够带给这宗扑朔迷离的案件一个全新的视角。
　　警方将案件的嫌疑锁定在了皮特的身上，嘉福隐姓埋名想要接近皮特，却被前者识破。之后，凶案再度发生，凶手在作案现场留下了线索向嘉福发出了挑战。在确定了彼得并无嫌疑之后，嘉福决定帮助他重获清白，在此过程中，两人之间碰撞出了爱情的火花。

　　三个互相不认识的年轻人, 不约而同在林间迷路, 相聚在一个林间小屋中, 三个人怎麽走都走不出去, 困了许多天....渐渐的水与食物都已耗尽, 他们想办法一直要逃出这片树林, 终於发现了这间屋子藏着许多诡异的事件, 究竟这片树林与小屋藏着什麽神秘的力量呢？ 他们是否能得救?

　　故事发生在位于美国新英格兰的一个恬静小镇之中，卡罗琳（梅丽尔·斯特里普 Meryl Streep 饰）和本（连姆·尼森 Liam Neeson 饰）是居住在那里的一对夫妻，两人共同抚养着儿子雅各布（爱德华·福隆 Edward Furlong 饰），生活平静而又美满。卡罗琳是一名医生，因此在小镇上享有着很高的名望，深得邻居们的信赖和喜爱。
　　然而某一天，噩梦突然降临到了这家人头上，雅各布被指控谋杀了他的女友，并且就此失去了音讯。居民们对于卡罗琳一家人的尊敬也很快转变为了质疑和敌视。尽管诸多的证据都指向了雅各布就是真正的凶手，但卡罗琳和本依然坚信，雅各布不可能犯下杀人的罪行。

　　博兰顿（约翰•达尔John Dall 饰）和菲利普（法利•格兰杰 Farley Granger 饰）都是哈佛的高才生，一天，都是同性恋的两人合谋杀害了同学戴维，并藏尸于一个大箱子中。或许是出于炫耀，他们做出了一个惊人的举动。那就是用装着戴维尸体的箱子当餐桌，邀请了戴维的父母、未婚妻、同学和茹伯特教授（詹姆斯•斯图尔特 James Stewart 饰）来赴宴。他们谎称戴维外出了，和客人们在戴维的“棺材”上进行着宴会。胆小的菲利普从宴会开始就开始坐立不安，但是博兰顿却不慌不忙，在客人中滔滔不绝。然而，聪明的茹伯特教授从博兰顿的谈话中渐渐察觉出事有蹊跷……

　　在位于郊外的华丽别墅内，人过中年的整形医生罗伯特·雷德加（安东尼奥·班德拉斯 Antonio Banderas 饰）和忠心老仆人玛丽莉娅（Marisa Paredes 饰）居住于此。在过去的十二年里，他先后失去了妻子盖儿和女儿诺玛（Ana Mena 饰），一桩桩人间惨剧彻底颠覆了罗伯特看似完美的生活，同时也将他的事业与研究推向了完全未知的领域。在别墅的某个神秘房间内，居住着一个美丽且与世隔绝的女子，她叫薇拉（埃琳娜·安纳亚 Elena Anaya 饰），既是罗伯特的病人，又是他的实验对象，二人有着纷繁错乱的渊源。她经罗伯特之手精心塑造出来的容颜，将彼此紧紧缠绕在了一起……

　　克里斯蒂安（瑞秋·麦克亚当斯 Rachel McAdams 饰）与下属伊莎贝拉（劳米·拉佩斯 Noomi Rapace 饰）在工作之外还有不少私人接触，然而表面良好的关系之下，克里斯蒂安为获得事业发展不惜剽窃了伊莎贝拉的广告创意，将功劳揽在自己身上，心生罅隙的伊莎贝拉与克里斯蒂安的情人德克（保罗·安德森 Paul Anderson 饰）发生了关系，并试图挽回自己因克里斯蒂安遭受的职业挫折，结果遭到了克里斯蒂安更强烈的羞辱。伊莎贝拉发现克里斯蒂安掌握德克贪污的证据，并欲将之告发，伊莎贝拉随即将证据藏匿。不久，克里斯蒂安在自己家中被害，现场遗留的证据指向伊莎贝拉，然而她是真正的凶手么？

　　They don’t make ’em like Little Dixie anymore: honed to the bone, all gestures and actions, only a few words. Too many genre films these days try to create meaning by piling ideas and intentions on their narrative frames. John Swab, as always, works the other way around. Meaning and depth come from taking away whatever is superfluous – by reducing the plot to its bare essence and the characters to their core trades and tricks.
　　Ultimately, Little Dixie feels like the pulp fiction version of a Giacometti sculpture, all fearful symmetries and mirror images. A gem of crime cinema at its purest and most philosophical, proudly featuring noir’s new darling, Frank Grillo.

　　As part of a sorority ritual, the pledges and their male companions steal a trophy from a bowling alley, unbeknownst to them it contains a devilish imo who makes their lives a living hell.
