　　老警察局长即将退休，新警察翻看局长书柜，发现库鲁普案件：库鲁普是印度空军的老油条，在役期间投机倒把、倒买倒卖。退役后到伊朗跨国公司工作，为阿拉伯王子做帮手。为贪污阿拉伯王子的300万美元费用，回印度找朋友设计自杀保险索赔。几个朋友为了贪图80万卢比的保险赔款，杀了他人假冒库鲁普自杀现场，被警方追查后仍然逃脱制裁。

　　这部文艺电影透露着浓浓的美国南方历史风味。富豪吉姆（凯文•斯帕西饰）举办了一个盛大的圣诞派对，然而在这个热闹派对的午夜，却发生了一场命案。所有的矛头都指向了吉姆，吉姆委托当晚到场的记者约翰（约翰•库萨克饰）搜集证据帮助自己，在约翰的求证过程中，却发现了被害者和主人吉姆之间的秘密关系，当搜证继续进行，吉姆自己却曝出了一个内幕，使得案件继续陷入迷雾。在这个南方小镇的午夜，究竟隐藏着怎样的善与恶，爱与恨，怎样的人性与阴谋？

　　Leopold Kroner, formerly of Colby Enterprises, is released after five years in prison for embezzlement. Andrew Colby, claiming that Kroner has threatened him, hires lawyer Bob Regan as a secret bodyguard. Sure enough, Kroner turns up in Colby's room with a gun, and Regan kills him. Then Regan, who sticks around to romance Colby's secretary Noel, begins to suspect he's been used.

　　The movie is a throwback to a time when ordinary people enjoyed simple pleasures like going to their club, or taking in the pictures and growing their chrysanthemums in the adjoining greenhouse garden...so very British.
　　It is these very ordinary people that some artists have a great sympathy and admiration for in our often self-serving world. Nothing extraordinary about the movie or the couple but almost 60 years on, the acting still makes it a delight to watch.

　　供职于国情局的青年警员金秀贤（李秉宪 饰）即将和心爱的女孩珠燕走入婚姻的殿堂，但是在一个飘雪之夜，独自驱车夜归的珠燕被人残忍杀害并分尸。秀贤痛不欲生，他找到四个主要嫌疑人的照片，开始独立追查凶手。经过一番调查，终于将目标锁定在为某学院包车的中年大叔张京哲（崔岷植 饰）的身上。张生活坎坷，性格极度扭曲，他经常袭击夜归的女子，并将她们无情杀害。秀贤找到张的据点，对其进行残酷的惩罚，却最终手下留情。侥幸活命的张反而由此激发所有的兽性，一场野兽对野兽的修罗之战渐次激烈……
　　本片也部分镜头过于血腥而成为韩国首部被限制上映的商业影片。

　　A most pleasingly atmospheric rendition of the tale, noirishly photographed and moodily set, this is the version which probably would have delighted Conan Doyle the most. There is one important plot change which enables the beautiful Alice Brandt to enjoy both a larger role and a more intriguing part in the proceedings. This change also builds up the parts of Dr Mortimer and Lord Charles, yet at the same time provides a nice introduction to the is-he-sinister or is-he-a-good-guy Barrymore, deftly played here by Fritz Rasp.
　　Despite the sting of its well-developed story, the spellbindingly atmospheric direction and the engrossing performances delivered by the entire cast, many fans may find this version somewhat disappointing. For at least three reasons: As in the novel, the part played in the narrative by Sherlock Holmes, though vital, is minimal. And in this version, not only has no attempt been made to enlarge his role, if anything both writer and director do their best to minimize it. Holmes does not even make his entrance for half-an-hour, and when he does finally appear, he has his back to the camera. It is Fritz Odemar, as Dr Watson, who receives the more favorable camera angles. And there is a purpose in this. It is Watson, not Holmes, who figures as the main protagonist of The Hound of the Baskervilles. For the bulk of the narrative, Holmes disappears. It is Watson and Lord Henry (Peter Voss) who take up the running. The movie is almost over, before Holmes closes in on the villain. And even so, this is not the obsessed, self-important Holmes we are accustomed to see taking charge. Another problem is that the title hound itself does not figure a great deal in the action, a downgrading which will undoubtedly rate as another major disappointment for fans. And finally, it could be argued that the script gives too much attention to Conan Doyle's red herring, the escaped convict, and not enough to the real villain.
　　This said, it must surely be admitted by all, that Odemar's interpretation of Watson—intelligent, charming, level-headed, courageous and resourceful—is much closer to Conan Doyle's conception than either the bungling, inveterately stupid Nigel Bruce or the self-effacing Ian Fleming.
　　One other player deserves special mention: Erich Ponto (Dr Winkel in The Third Man) who seems exactly right for Stapleton. A difficult part, superbly played.

　　身体虚弱的朴老师（吴美熙饰）退休后隐居在远离人烟的海边，一年前收留的女学生美子（徐瑛姬饰）提议举行一个同学聚会，让老师开心一下。前来聚会的学生形迹怪异：将要结婚的班长世浩（余贤秀饰）和副班长恩英、身材火爆的顺姬（李智贤饰）、跛脚的达峰、帅气的明浩等来到了老师面前，却因为曾经都被朴老师伤害过而怨气冲天，正阳小时候母亲因为自己被记过去找老师理论时被车撞死而显得阴阳怪气。这夜，在纷纷控诉过老师对自己的伤害后，这群学生接二连三被穿着正阳的衣服戴着兔子面具的人杀死，只有朴老师与奋力保护她的美子幸存。警察在调查时发现朴老师当年并没有一个叫美子的学生，恐怖渐生。到底是谁的阴暗记忆毁了这一切？事实的真相与表面上看到的大相径庭。

　　In this unreal walk through the streets of Paris, Marie (Bulle Ogier), a woman convicted of robbing a bank is just out from prison when she runs into Baptiste (Pascale Ogier) a young paranoid needing companionship, and the two team up for awhile. Marie's former boyfriend (Pierre Clementi) supplies them with a strange map of the city, suspicious because he keeps files on political figures that may be somehow linked to the map. A gangster nicknamed "Max" begins to track Marie and the already paranoid Baptiste, causing Marie to examine the map as though it held the clue to which sides of the city were "safe" and which were not. As the two women attempt to outsmart Max and unknown gangsters, they try to figure out the map - a task made all the more difficult by Baptiste's tendency to violent rushes of adrenaline and Marie's overworked imagination (a dragon at the North Bridge is a threat until Baptiste screams him down). Between the dragon and their own demons, Marie and Baptiste face frightening odds against coming out of this misadventure intact. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi
