　　电视剧版《惊声尖叫》由执导过MTV剧集《假亦真》的Jamie Travis执导，电影版导演韦斯·克雷文将担任监制。2013年10月剧集最初启动时，哈维·韦恩斯坦表示电视剧版《惊声尖叫》代表了新的开始同时会涉及一些超自然现象。在故事方面，剧集与电影不会出现剧情重合。
