 故事发生在1990年夏天前东德图林根州附近的乡村。即将年满19岁的玛丽亚和男友约翰内斯住在约翰内斯父母的农场里，她宁愿沉浸在书本中，也不愿专注于毕业。随着德国的统一，人们有一种新时代来临的感觉。 当玛丽亚遇到住在隔壁的农民亨纳时，玛丽亚与这个比她年龄大一倍、任性、有魅力的男人燃起强烈的激情。在充满未知的气氛中，爱情诞生了：一种充满渴望和欲望的秘密激情，吞噬了前进道路上的一切。

　　前妻去世后，作家桂一雄（绪形拳 饰）娶顺子（いしだあゆみ 饰）为妻，夫妻俩连同五个孩子的生活倒也和顺。然一场灾难不幸降临，次子次郎（一柳信之 饰）罹患脑炎，生活不能自理。深受打击的顺子从此迷信宗教，家庭关系日渐紧张。在此期间，一雄结识同样来自九州的年轻女演员矢岛惠子（原田美枝子 饰），并邀请惠子和他一同外出参加太宰治文学碑的剪彩仪式。回到家中后，一雄坦白了这段不伦之恋，顺子愤而离家出走，一雄则干脆搬到宾馆，与惠子沉浸在无尽的欢愉之中……
　　本片改编自檀一雄同名小说，并荣获日本电影学院奖最佳电影、最佳导演、最佳男主角、最佳女主角等7项大奖。

　　有人說過「十七歲」是一個具有魔力的數字，因為十七歲正好是青春怒放的時期，離法定的成人還有最後一段的萌昧期。大多數人的十七歲都是在汗水與淚水交織的高中校園度過的，十七歲的生命充滿各種曖昧與可能。
　　四十五歲則是另一個令人遐想的生命階段，因為在此標注了生命中點的里程碑，準備跨過的是「不惑」的關卡。四十五歲的他們抱著一顆曾經熱血的心展開了一趟追尋高中失聯同學的旅程，大家都以為旅程的終點就是與高中同學歡聚、慶祝同學會，沒想到，等待著他們的卻是一個個沒有逆料到的生命驚奇―― 包括中年失業、子女教養、夫妻關係、身心健康、父母健康、自我實踐與生死大事等問題，彷佛要通過了這重重的考驗，生命才能真的邁入不惑的旅程。
　　於是，旅途上的他們與那些久違的年輕夢想、熾燃理念與純真初心相逢了，原來，他們一直在尋找的不是什麼失落的青春歲月或失聯的旅伴，而是那一個個被遺忘的「原來的自己」。
　　旅程如斯奇妙，最後帶著他們一路返回了自己的「初心」。在這個期中休息站，他們盤整了自己生命的得失，加滿了油，再次啟程，往生命後半段的坦蕩旅途一路駛去，這次的終點將是圓融與完滿。

　　Set at the turn of the century, the story concerns a Polish poet living in Cracow who has decided to marry a peasant girl. The wedding is attended by a heterogenous group of people from all strata of Polish society, who dance, get drunk and lament Poland's 100-year-long division of Poland under Russia, Prussia, and Austria. The bridegroom, a painter friend, and a journalist each in turn is confronted with spectres of Polish past. In the end a call to arms is called but turns out to be a hoax.

　　Yu-jeong, a beautiful and successful woman with a trusting nature, becomes the perfect prey for Sun-hee, a narcissistic sociopath who charms and traps her in an abusive relationship. Desperate to escape, she turns to an old friend for help, while Sun-hee—born a predator—launches a dangerous new venture with his own ally. As their paths collide, all are drawn into a deadly web of lies, betrayal, and violence that spirals toward an explosive climax.

　　For Kevin, a shy teenager, being bullied is part of everyday life. But one day an older guy, Benny, comes to his aid. Impressed by Benny's self-as-sured appearance, Kevin seeks his company from then on, and increasingly idolizes him. But Benny's intention is not to protect the younger boy, quite the contrary.

　　An electronics expert creates a huge bookie broadcast system for his crime boss, and takes over operations when his boss is murdered. His greed leads him on a deadly destructive path.

　　Synopsis
　　"Falsely accused as the murderer of my own husband... Oh, the cruel machinations of fate!" A female teacher (Lee Yong-ae) gives shelter to an escaped convict, but her husband, misconstruing her intentions, reacts violently and accidentally stabs himself to death in the process. The teacher is charged with her husband's murder, but fortunately the prosecutor on the case is a former student of hers, of whom she had taken painstaking care when she was working at an elementary school. Remembering her kindness to him, the prosecutor uncovers her innocence in court, and she is acquitted of the crime.

　　"A silent movie that allows us to examine the narrator-accompanied method of 16mm films" (Chung Jong-wha)
　　A Public Prosecutor and a Teacher is familiar to us for the performance of Shin Chool, Korea's last silent movie narrator (known as "byeonsa"in Korean). Numerous critics have recommended the film, praising it as "a silent movie that allows us to examine the narrator-accompanied method of 16mm films" (Chung Jong-wha), "the work of Korea's last silent movie narrator" (Kim Hong-joon), a movie that "reflects the public's consciousness and has great historical value" (Lee Seung-hun), and "the archetypal new-school film" (Chung Sung-il). As evidenced by such commentary, A Public Prosecutor and a Teacherenjoys greater recognition for its historical value as the only surviving silent movie in Korea than for its artistic or technical aspects. What is ironic is the fact that this recognition derivesfrom a production and screening method that fell behind the times, as sound films (or "talkies") had already become the norm when the movie was first made. Its inclusion in the list is therefore based on its historical, social context rather than on the film itself.
