　　清晨的一声枪响，打破紫藤社区长期以来的安宁。Mary Alice Young（Brenda Strong 饰）在家中自杀身亡。故事以她叙述的口吻开始，死后的Mary开始环顾四周关心自己邻居的生活：Susan（泰瑞·海切尔 Teri Hatcher 饰）是一个儿童文学作家，对男人毫无抗拒能力，丈夫因为出轨而被Susan提出离婚，有一个正值青春期的15岁女儿Julie。Lynette（菲丽西提·霍夫曼 Felicity Huffman 饰）是个标准的女强人，为了谁成为照顾家中四个幼儿的人而和丈夫约法三章时起冲突。Bree（玛西亚·克劳斯 Marcia Cross 饰）则是个完美主妇，她对自己的一言一行都要求甚高，却总是忽略了丈夫以及儿女对爱的需要，她很优雅，却冷冰冰。而性感的Gabrielle（艾娃·朗格利亚 Eva Longoria 饰）则有着富有又懂情趣的丈夫Calos，但总是禁受不住诱惑而偷情和重视物质享受的她也有着自己不为人知的过往。

　　CBS will be bringing back another one of its veteran dramas for the 2019-20 TV season.
　　Announced this afternoon, the network has officially renewed “NCIS” for its seventeenth season. The news comes after star and executive producer, Mark Harmon, signed a new deal with CBS to reprise his role on the series.
　　“NCIS has been a global juggernaut for almost two decades,” said CBS Entertainment President, Kelly Kahl. “Its viewers are clearly the most loyal of any drama on television. They are passionate about the characters, the plotlines and the storytelling. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the gifted production team and the cast, led by the extraordinary Mark Harmon. We are delighted that the show will remain a linchpin of the CBS schedule this coming season.”
　　In its current season, “NCIS” has been averaging 12.2 million viewers in the live + same day ratings, making it TV’s second-most-watched scripted series, behind only “The Big Bang Theory.” It has remained a strong performer for CBS, in both its ratings and viewership numbers, and was widely considered to be a strong renewal contender leading up to the announcement today.
　　With this renewal, “NCIS” now joins “Young Sheldon,” “Mom,” “Criminal Minds,” “God Friended Me,” “Magnum P.I.,” “FBI,” and “The Neighborhood” on a growing list scripted titles confirmed to be returning on CBS for the 2019-20 season.

　　In Season Two of The Rings of Power, Sauron has returned. 　　Barbie Hallem is a bored rich girl, who drinks too much, parties too much and flirts outrageously with any man she meets. And there's no reason to think she stops at flirting, even though she has a boyfriend. But her boyfriend is a drip. He won't punch out a guy when he sees her kissing him. The dullard even tries to take her home when she gets drunk at a party. What she wants to do is go up to the mountains and stay at the cabin her uncle left to her. The boyfriend tries to tag along, but she manages to abandon him at the side of the road. Before the night is over, she'll wish desperately she had just gone home.

　　Deputy Assistant Commissioner Charlie Hillian is killed on the night of his retirement party. Hillian was at one time a senior officer in Oxford and was in fact Morse's boss. He was also writing a book about his most memorable cases, including one about the unsolved death of an 8-year-old girl some 18 years ago. The suspect in that case, Frederick Redpath, was at Hillian's house the day he died and that chapter from the manuscript is missing. There are other suspects however, including Hillian's ghost writer who will now receive all of the book's royalties; a handyman who was working on the property; and Redpath's daughter, who knew the little girl who was killed all those years before. Morse comes into conflict with with a colleague DCI Dawson, who was one of Hillian's protégés, as they again look into the little girl's death.
